Rico Fernandez
Rico Fernandez retired as a Detective Lieutenant from the Long Beach Police Department after 30 years of exemplary service. Throughout his career, he gained extensive experience in supervision and management, with assignments that included patrol, field training, detectives, Internal Affairs, background investigations, hostage negotiations, media relations, and academy instruction. He also served as the Patrol Bureau Deputy Chief Adjutant.
Mr. Fernandez has led citywide patrol operations as a Watch Commander, managing critical incidents in the role of Incident Commander. As a Lieutenant, he frequently assumed acting commander duties, overseeing both patrol and detective divisions. Known for his commitment to fairness in fact-finding, he is highly regarded for his expertise in handling sensitive and high-profile internal affairs matters.
He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and holds a POST Management Certificate. Additionally, Mr. Fernandez is a licensed California Private Investigator and Qualified Manager (PI #12041).
